What Video Games Have to Teach Us about Learning and Literacy

This is a good book to read in general. I had to read it for one of my classes, and I could not put it down. The book gives a great account on how video games are very useful to you as a teacher not just by using them in the classroom, but by the way students can learn form playing a video game and not realize that it is educational.

Good Video Games and Good Learning

This is James Paul Gee's newest book about video games and learning. I have not read it yet, but can't wait to get my hands on it. From what I have read about the book, he is making some new arguments and restating old arguments about why video games are good learning tools.

This page is a list of 20 or so games that I have played or read about that I think would be good to use in the classroom. Some of the games are for older players and some are for younger players. If there are additional titles under a numbered game, then those titles are additional games in the series. For example, 2. Tycoon Games, a. Roller Coaster Tycoon is a game by the the Tycoon creators. All games are hyperlinked to an IGN.com, which has a review for each game. Check the review before you use the game in your classroom.
